Catapults and Trebuchets
- In this class, students will be learning the history of each system and how to create both a catapult and trebuchet. Students will work in groups and use the engineering design process to create effective designs to launch pom poms across the hallway.

We will be beginning our study of The Survival Guide for Gifted Kids by Judy Galbraith. We will be focusing on Chapter One: What It Means To Be Gifted and Chapter Two: What It Means to Be Gifted During this study we will be taking several surveys to find out more about ourselves and what it means to be gifted. We will look at facts about being gifted and also common myths that are associated with giftedness. By the end of this time you will come up with your own definition of what giftedness means and be able to explain how being labeled as "gifted" effects you.
December 3-14
Coding
- You will be learning the basics of coding through game exploration.
- You will be learning how to create a poem and work on your own piece.
November 6th -30th
We will be working as a whole program to complete a mural of President Obama using rubics cubes. You will be divided into groups and will be responsible for completing a section of the mural. Do you have the cube solving skills required?

Crime Scene Investigations
Sewing Sachets
- You will be using deductive reasoning to solve the mystery of the missing sandwich. By examining different clues throughout the week you will be able to solve the crime.
Sewing Sachets
- We will be learning how to hand stitch by sewing scented sachets. We will also explore the history behind scented sachets.
October 15 - 26
We will be working on our community service project. If you are interested in presenting this to KAGE you must complete the project and let Mr. Parks and Ms. Jefferson know.

We will be working on growth mindset along with social and emotional needs.
September 11th - September 27th
Introduction to Cubism
- We will be exploring Cubism in this two part class. First we will study the history of Cubism and briefly explore the artists associated with it. You will also start and complete several art pieces to explore basic techniques associated with Cubism. We will be using colored pencils to complete our artwork.
Solar Oven S'Mores
- This class will explore the how solar energy works by researching solar power and building a solar powered oven. Once we have created our solar oven we will make s'mores using our designs of the solar oven. We will wrap up this series with redesigning for a more effective oven and creating a website on how to build the best solar oven for s'mores.
August 27th -September 7th
K'Nex Roller Coasters: Physics in Action
- In this interactive class you will first build a K'Nex roller coaster. When complete you will explore the relationship between the mass of an object, the height from which it is dropped, and it's ability to pass through a loop.
Dance - Styles and the History of Dance : Art and History
- This class will teach students different styles of dance such a ballet, tap, jazz, ballroom, hip-hop and more. Students will also learn dance terminology and the history of these dance styles.
