Arts and Humanities
Quarter 1
4th Grade
We will be doing a unit on Keith Haring. Keith Allen Haring was an American artist whose pop art and graffiti-like work grew out of the New York City street culture of the 1980s. Haring's work grew to popularity from his spontaneous drawings in New York City subways—chalk outlines of figures, dogs, and other stylized images-on blank black advertising-space backgrounds.
5th Grade
Our first quarter unit will be on creating informational posters. We will start with school wide expectations and end with the 2019 Environmental Poster Contest, sponsored by the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This year's theme is "Chose your own adventure: Show us how the environment affects your health!"
